I grew up with a love for history and costumes. My father worked as a guide at Loevestein Castle and also lived there in the 1970’s, my mother studied to be a handicraft teacher and collected antique clothing.

After my graduation in 1998 at the AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) in Amsterdam as a Textile Engineer, I worked as a (Senior) Product Developer at various major jeans brands. I also completed a three-year training in Belgium as a pattern draftsman (2007-2010) and I obtained a diploma at the Akademie Vogue in Amsterdam for Costume History (2016).

Inspired by television series, I started to recreate historical costumes around 2010 in my spare time. Not much later I became more interested in museum pieces, paintings, historical patterns, etc, in order to be able to make the most realistic possible reconstruction of historical clothing.

This 'hobby' now takes up a large number of hours in my spare time.

A large part of the costumes I have made are for personal use and for a number of years we have also been using them for historical Re-enactment, imitating historical settings with decor, furniture and activities.

Since 2018 Jasper and I (we are together since 1999, of which married since 2007) live in a farmhouse from 1640, on the countryside, which we have furnished as historically as possible and enjoy the flowers, vegetables and fruit from our own garden.

Since childhood, my favorite pastime has been acting. Together with my younger sister I played many shows in the attic of our parental home. I also built entire amusement parks in the attic, I organized game shows and exhibitions. So it was clear from an early age: performing, entertaining people and creating experiences is in my blood.

After the Gymnasium and a study in business administration I started my own company “Groovements”, which develops and organizes music events for the Dutch club circuit and for festivals. Within the cultural sector I am also active as a musician and DJ in various music genres.

In high school, my favorite subjects were history and drama. With “Walking Through History” these 2 interests come together nicely.

In 2016 I started a new project: The Historical Banquet. We use this to organize medieval themed parties for private groups at various locations. Here again several things come together for me: creation, history and above all the possibility to take people to another world, another time, a unique experience.

I have always believed that every person should do work that they are really interested in. Besides history, theater and music, “nature” is also an important theme in my life. We live in a beautiful rural area in an old farmhouse. With this in mind, I decided to become a part-time landscape gardener in 2020, because there's nothing like working outdoors. Also within this profession I hope to make the world a bit more beautiful again.
